1. Data We Collect
Account Data (Login)

- Display name (chosen by you at registration)
- Passwords are not stored in plain text (securely hashed)
- Dietary preference if you choose to save one (for example halal, kosher, vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free)
- Favorites and other saved product preferences
Business Account and Listing Data
- Business owner account information such as email, owner name, phone number, and password hash
- Restaurant listing details, menu items, dietary options, and owner-provided kitchen-practice information
- Menu photos, certification photos, and business ownership documents that you voluntarily upload for review
Location Data (When In Use)
- Approximate or precise location while you use our website or app
- Used to find and filter nearby restaurants
Payments / Subscriptions
- Web: Subscriptions and payments on our website are processed by Paddle (paddle.com)
- Mobile: In-app purchases on iOS and Android may be processed by Apple App Store or Google Play
- We do not store your card details
- We may process limited purchase information (e.g., subscription status) to verify your access
Usage & Analytics
- Website/app interactions, feature usage, crash logs, performance data
Third-party SDK Diagnostics
- The Google Maps SDK (used for map display and location features) may automatically collect diagnostic and performance data (such as SDK version, device model, OS version, and performance metrics) and transmit it to Google. This data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
AI-Related Data
- Restaurant menu text, listing data, public restaurant information, and owner-provided information may be analyzed to generate dietary confidence signals
- AI outputs shown on our website (e.g., scoring and dietary signal summaries)
- AI outputs may be inaccurate or incomplete; they are informational only and users should verify information directly with restaurants
2. How We Use Data
- Provide login and core functionality
- Offer location-based restaurant search and filtering
- Store voluntary dietary preferences, favorites, and business listing information
- Review uploaded menu, certification, and ownership documents for product and account integrity
- Verify subscriptions and purchases when applicable
- Generate informational dietary confidence scores and restaurant signals
- Improve performance, fix bugs, prevent abuse, ensure security
- Comply with legal obligations
3. Sharing
We may share data with:
- Paddle (web, when subscriptions are enabled) or Apple/Google (mobile, when applicable) for payment and subscription processing
- Analytics providers
- AI, mapping, place-data, and infrastructure providers used to provide search, maps, scoring, hosting, logging, and security
- Infrastructure providers (hosting, logging, security)
- Authorities when required by law
4. Retention & Deletion
- Account data: retained while your account is active. After a deletion request, your account is deactivated immediately and personal data is permanently deleted from active databases within 30 days.
- Backups: Backup systems are fully purged within 90 days of a deletion request.
- Location data: Not stored persistently — used only in real-time to return nearby results.
- Favorites and dietary preferences: retained while your account is active or until you delete or change them.
- Business listing uploads: retained while needed to operate the business listing, review ownership/certification claims, prevent abuse, or comply with legal obligations.
- Logs & analytics: Retained for up to 12 months for security and service improvement, then deleted.
- Payment & transaction records: Retained for up to 7 years where required by applicable tax and accounting law, even after account deletion. Card data is never stored by us.
- Fraud / abuse records: Minimal records may be kept to prevent re-registration where abuse has been detected.

6. Security
We use reasonable safeguards, but no transmission is 100% secure.
7. Mobile Applications (iOS & Android)
The MenuCheck AI mobile app is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. By downloading and using the app, you agree to this Privacy Policy in addition to the terms of the applicable platform.
- Location: The app requests location permission ("While Using the App") to show nearby restaurants. We do not track your location in the background.
- Camera / Photo Library: Used only when you voluntarily upload a restaurant photo. We do not access your camera or photos without your action.
- Push Notifications: Used to send optional alerts. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
- In-App Purchases: Managed by Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). We do not store your payment card details. Subscription management and cancellation are handled through your platform account settings.
- Data Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by visiting /delete-account or emailing us. Account data will be deleted within 30 days.
8. Children
Our Service is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable under local law).
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of our Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
