MenuCheck Business — the restaurant/business owner portal and mobile app used to manage listings, menus, and paid visibility. It governs professional/business use of the platform by restaurant owners and their authorized staff. It is a separate document from, and does not modify, the consumer-facing
MenuCheck AI Privacy Policy, which applies to diners using the MenuCheck AI consumer app and website.
This Privacy Policy explains what data MenuCheck Business ("we", "us", the "Service") collects from business owners who register, verify, and manage a restaurant listing, and your rights regarding that data. It applies to the MenuCheck Business web portal, the MenuCheck Business mobile app, and related dashboard and support services.
1. Who This Policy Covers
This policy applies to business owners, managers, and staff ("you", "Business Owner") who create or manage a business account to claim, verify, and operate a restaurant listing on MenuCheck AI. It does not apply to end consumers browsing restaurants, who are covered separately by the MenuCheck AI Privacy Policy.
2. Data We Collect
Business Account Data
- Owner name, email address, and phone number
- Password (stored securely as a salted hash, never in plain text)
- Role/authorization information for staff you designate to manage a listing
Business Listing & Menu Data
- Restaurant name, address, category, hours, and contact details
- Menu items, prices, ingredients, and dietary/kitchen-practice information you choose to provide
- Menu photos and other images you upload
Ownership & Verification Documents
- Business licenses, certification documents, and ownership-claim materials you voluntarily submit to verify control of a listing
- These documents are used solely for verification/anti-fraud review and are not published publicly
Visibility, Subscription & Payment Data
- If you purchase sponsored placement, featured listing status, or other paid visibility features, payments are processed by Paddle (paddle.com), which may act as Merchant of Record for these transactions
- We do not store your card details
- We process limited purchase and subscription-status data (plan, dates, amount) to activate and verify paid features
Device, Usage & Diagnostic Data
- Dashboard/app interactions, feature usage, crash logs, and performance data
- Device identifiers and technical metadata (device model, OS version, app version) for security and diagnostics
- The Google Maps/Places SDKs, used for listing address lookup and map display, may automatically collect diagnostic and performance data governed by Google's Privacy Policy
Support Communications
- Records of correspondence when you contact support, including the content of your message and any attachments you provide
3. How We Use Data
- Create and secure your business account and verify your authority to manage a listing
- Display and operate your restaurant listing, menu, and dietary information on MenuCheck AI
- Review ownership-claim and verification documents to prevent fraudulent or unauthorized listing changes
- Process and activate paid visibility, sponsored placement, or subscription features you purchase
- Generate informational, AI-assisted dietary confidence signals from listing and menu data (see Section 4)
- Provide customer support and respond to inquiries
- Monitor for abuse, prevent fraud, and maintain platform security and integrity
- Comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations
4. AI-Generated Content & Dietary Scoring — Informational Only
Dietary confidence scores, risk signals, and other AI-assisted outputs displayed on a listing are generated from data you submit, public information, and automated menu-text analysis. These outputs are provided for general informational purposes only. They are not certifications, audits, or guarantees of dietary, allergen, halal, kosher, or any other compliance status. You remain solely responsible for the accuracy of the information you submit, and for ensuring your restaurant's actual practices match what is displayed. We disclaim liability for consumer decisions made in reliance on AI-generated or owner-submitted content.
5. Visibility & Sponsored Placement — No Guarantee of Results. Purchasing sponsored placement, featured status, or any other paid visibility feature increases the prominence of your listing within the app's discovery surfaces, subject to our placement logic, inventory, and moderation policies. It does not guarantee any specific number of impressions, clicks, calls, visits, orders, or revenue, nor any particular ranking, and fees paid are for the visibility service delivered, not for any business outcome. We make no representation or warranty regarding the commercial results of any paid feature.
6. Your Responsibility for Submitted Content
You represent that you have the legal authority to submit and manage information for the business you list, and that all information, menu data, dietary claims, and documents you provide are accurate, current, and lawfully obtained. You are solely responsible for the content of your listing. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless MenuCheck AI, its operator, and affiliated service providers from claims, losses, or damages arising from inaccurate, misleading, unauthorized, or unlawful information you submit.
7. Sharing of Data
We may share business account and listing data with:
- Paddle, when paid visibility or subscription features are used, for payment processing
- Mapping, places, and AI infrastructure providers used to power search, verification, and dietary-scoring features
- Hosting, logging, security, and analytics providers who process data on our behalf
- Authorities, regulators, or legal counsel when required by law or to defend our legal rights
- A successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy or a materially equivalent one
We do not sell your business or personal data to third parties.
8. Data Retention & Deletion
- Business account data: retained while your account is active. After a deletion request, your account is deactivated immediately and personal data is permanently deleted from active databases within 30 days.
- Backups: fully purged within 90 days of a deletion request.
- Listing, menu, and verification documents: retained while needed to operate the listing, review ownership claims, prevent abuse, or comply with legal obligations, and may be retained after account closure where required to investigate fraud or enforce our terms.
- Payment and transaction records: retained for up to 7 years where required by applicable tax and accounting law, even after account deletion. We never store your card details.
- Logs & diagnostics: retained for up to 12 months for security and service improvement, then deleted.
- Fraud/abuse records: minimal records may be retained to prevent re-registration or repeat abuse where fraud has been detected.
To request deletion of your business account data, contact us at the address below or use the deletion option in your dashboard settings, where available.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your business account data. To exercise these rights, contact: menucheckai@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity and authority over the business account before acting on a request.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect business account and listing data, including password hashing and access controls on verification documents. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Limitation of Liability
The MenuCheck Business portal and app are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, MenuCheck AI and its operator disclaim all warranties, express or implied, and are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost profits or lost business, arising from your use of the Service, reliance on AI-generated outputs, or the performance of any paid visibility feature.
12. Mobile Application (iOS & Android)
Where the MenuCheck Business app is available on the Apple App Store and/or Google Play Store, downloading and using it means you agree to this Privacy Policy in addition to the terms of the applicable platform.
- Camera / Photo Library: used only when you voluntarily upload a menu photo, certification image, or ownership document. We do not access your camera or photos without your action.
- Push Notifications: used to send optional alerts about your listing, claims, or account status. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
- In-App Purchases: where offered, visibility or subscription purchases may be managed by Apple App Store or Google Play, subject to their policies. We do not store your payment card details.
- Data Deletion: you can request deletion of your business account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Account data will be deleted within 30 days.
13. Not Directed to Children
MenuCheck Business is a professional tool intended for business owners and staff who are at least 18 years old. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable under local law).
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of MenuCheck Business after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
